Research – Nuno joins the Centre for Urban Policy Studies
Nuno has formally joined CUPS, the Centre for Urban Policy Studies.
CUPS was established in Manchester University by Professor Brian Robson in 1983 to develop research on urban and regional policy. It now has an established reputation for policy-relevant research on the evaluation of area-based urban policy initiatives, regional development, spatial planning and housing, and the measurement of neighbourhood dynamics. It has a large output of published papers and reports, and extremely good links with practitioners and policy-makers in government and public and private agencies. Its research draws both on quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Its work has developed a variety of innovative methods of analysing large datasets, and it has made extensive use of surveys, questionnaires and interview methods.
CUPS is based within the School of Environment, Education and Development at the University of Manchester. Its researchers are drawn from academic staff in the University and from a team of dedicated research associates. While it draws primarily on researchers in Geography and Planning, its work is essentially multidisciplinary with many of its research associates and collaborators having had backgrounds in economics, sociology and political science.
